제목 Synthesis and Characterization of Spiro-Polyfluorene Derivatives with Enhanced Hole Injection
초록 Spiro-configured polyfluorene derivatives have received a great deal of attentions as blue-emitting materials of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) due to their high stability. Once the spirostructure incorporated into the polyfluorene, the three-dimensional structure reduces π-stacking of the conjugated polymer followed by reduced aggregate formation and/or excimer emission, increased PL quantum efficiency. However, typical spiro structure mainly modifies the physical properties of polymers. We report on new spiro-confgured polyfluorene derivatives with a triphenylamine structure. The polymers were designed not only for enhanced physical but also for enhanced hole injection.

We synthesized the polymer with various monomer ratios and compared their characteristics. All polymers showed high glass transition temperature, higher HOMO energy level for enhanced hole injection and nearly same optical properties with typical dialkyl substituted polyfluorenes. Our results clearly showed the effect of triphenylamine moeity even in the spiro strcture. polymers containing higher triphenylamine showed higher HOMO energy levels. OLEDs based on the polymer were fabricated and characterized. These devices showed lower turn-on voltage compared to a OLED based on a dihexyl polyfluorene due to enhanced hole injection of the polymers.
