Adhesion and proliferation of primary human fibroblasts on ligand-organized hydrogels |
초록 |
Cellular adhesion ligands in polymer scaffolds play a critical role in tissue engineering. An introduction of a specific ligand with the sequence of Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) has been extensively exploited to enhance ligand-receptor interactions and control cell phenotype in tissue engineering. However, there are few studies regarding the effect of controlling the distance between adhesion ligands in polymer scaffolds in the nanometer size scale on the regulation of cell phenotype. In this study, we demonstrate that varying the distance between RGD peptides in alginate gels at the nanometer level can regulate phenotype of primary human fibroblasts. The approach of controlling the distribution and distance between cellular adhesion ligands at the nanometer level may be valuable in the design and tailoring of polymer scaffolds for tissue engineering applications. |
