제목 | Synthesis and characterization of exfoliated clay nanocomposite with water-soluble polyaniline graft copolymer |
초록 | Many studies on polyaniline (PANI)/inorganic host nanocomposites have been carried out, but they were mainly focused on the intercalative structure. Exfoliated nanocomposites can attain degrees of stiffness, strength, and barrier properties with far less inorganic content than is used in conventionally filled polymer composites. The higher the degree of exfoliation in PANI/clay nanocomposites, the greater the enhancement of these properties. In this study exfoliated polyaniline/montomorillonite (MMT) nanocomposites were prepared by in-situ polymerization of aniline into MMT using water-soluble poly(sodium styrenesulfonate-co-BOC-aminostyrene) (P(SSNa-co-BOC-AMS)) as an intercalating agent and the same time a precursor for aniline grafting. When intercalated P(SSNa-co-BOC-AMS)/clay nanocomposite was treated with 1M HCl aqueous solution, clay layers are exfoliated due to the homogenizing effect between the anionic groups in MMT and de-protected AMS group (-NH3+Cl-) with electrostatic attraction. Then, aniline (ANI) was grafted onto the poly(styrenesulfonic acid-co-aminostyrene) (P(SSA-co-AMS)) by in-situ polymerization. |
