The physical properties of Poly ether/ester-based thermoplastic elastomer (Hytrel)/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNTs) composites were studied such as rheological, thermal, mechanical and electrical properties. The nanocomposites with various filler contents (0.1 7 wt%) were prepared by melt-mixing using an internal mixer. The incorporating of MWNTs increased the dynamic viscosity of the elastomer with the loading level and the disappearance of lower Newtonian flow region was notably observed from 1 wt% of MWNT. Furthermore, the viscosity largely increased between 0.5 and 1 wt%. There was an experimental percolation threshold for the electrical conductivity and it clearly occurred at around 1 wt% of MWNT. In the cooling scan of differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), the crystallization temperature increased up to 20°C with the MWNTs loading level, suggesting the high efficiency of heterogeneous nucleation. |
