Since the liquid hydrogen has the advantage in high energy density, the interest in constructing a receiving terminal as an infrastructure of liquid hydrogen transportation has increased. The main problem of the terminal is that the high-pressure compressor, which is used to compress the boil-off gas, requires lots of energy and operating cost. In this study, the conceptual design of a liquid hydrogen receiving terminal is proposed with boil-off gas re-liquefaction considering the thermodynamic and economic analysis. The boil-off rate of the liquid hydrogen tank is calculated based on the thermodynamic equations. Para-to-ortho hydrogen conversion is applied to the vaporization. Sensitivity analysis is performed to find the best operating parameters regarding the energy and economic costs. This study will give an energetically and economically efficient design of a receiving terminal to encourage the hydrogen transportation infrastructure. |
