In this study, the effect of ultrasonication and heat treatment on the morphology of wool was investigated. It was found by microscope observation that the ultrasonication in formic acid resulted in the split of wool fiber. As the formic acid content and ultrasonication time increased, the degree of split was increased linearly. The heat treatment for wool in formic acid removed the scale of wool first, and then split the wool fiber. As the treatment temperature, formic acid content, and treatment time increased, the degree of removal of scale and split of wool fiber increased. |
