Pulsatile flow of an incompressible, Newtonian fluid through a fully unsymmetric bifurcation tube was numerically analyzed by solving the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The Womersley1 type pulsatile flow using McDonald’s2 experimental pressure data was adopted for the inlet boundary condition. Velocity profile, secondary flow and wall shear stress were visualized by different techniques for the flow analysis. The complete results of this study are being analyzed in order to investigate the hypothesis that blood vessel geometry and its resulting effects on the fluid dynamics occurring can have a major relationship to the formation of atherosclerosis and other blood disease.
