제목 Improved Scratch and Mar Resistances of Polypropylene/Hydrogenated Poly(styrene-co-butadiene) Blend
초록 Polypropylene(PP) have been, widely, used in plastic industry with excellent processibility and properties except poor scratch and mar resistances. This drawback have caused the limitation of use in high-class packaging market. Recently, Blending of PP with thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) can improve the scratch and mar resistances of PP itself, have been disclosed.
One of the TPEs, hydrogenated poly(styrene-co-butadiene) (HSBR) was found to be the strong candidate for improving these drawbacks, and, then, we have studied the effects of HSBR. PP/HSBR blend was prepared by melt blending process using twin-screw compounder (ZSK 25, Werner & Pfleiderer). Blending composition of PP/HSBR blends in weight ratios were 100/0, 75/25, 50/50, 25/75, 0/100. The properties of PP/HSBR blends were investigated by differential scanning calorimetery (D.S.C.), wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), melt indexer, Universal testing, and scratch testing. We found that the crystallinity of PP highly suppressed by the presence of HSBR, and this phenomena resulted in the improved scratch and mar resistances of PP, while still maintaining a good balance of mechanical properties.
