The separation of praseodymium and dysprosium has been studied by solvent extraction using fatty acids such as hexanoic acid, octanoic acid, 2-ethylhexanoic acid, decanoic acid, dodecanoic acid, tetradecanoic acid, hexadecanoic acid, octadecanoic acid and oleic acid as extractants in kerosene as a diluent. In this study, we have been carried out the trend of extraction depending on the carbon chain length and the equilibrium pH(pHe) of aqueous phase. The results obtained from solvent extraction of praseodymium and dysprosium using fatty acids are as follows; the extractibility of dysprosium is higher than that of praseodymium at the same pHe, and the pH0.5 of them are shifted to the base as carbon chain length increases. Using octanoic acid as an extractant, we can get the highest separation factor of praseodymium and dysprosium that is 49. |
