Polyimides (PIs) are one of high performance polymeric materials owing to their excellent thermal stability and balanced mechanical and electrical properties. We synthesized new polynorbornene anhydride(PNA) with imide side chain. Three kinds of (o-, m-, p-)phenylenediamines and two kinds of anhydrides (trans-1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylic anhydride and phthalic anhydride) were introduced into PNA. Six kinds of polymers with imide were synthesized through thermal imidization process. PNA modified with various imide moieties in a side chain exhibited excellent optical transparency in the visible region because of the weakened electron accepting properties and nonplanar steric structu re of the imide moieties that originatied from the alicyclic nature of polynorbornene. |
