Novel sulfonated polyimides were synthesized using novel sulfonated diaminde which contains variable length of sulfonic acid group for direct methanol fuel cell. Novel sulfonated diamine could be obtained by nitration of 1,8-naphthalic anhydride and attaching aliphatic chain sulfonic acid group. Using novel sulfonated diamine and commercial aromatic dianhydride, novel sulfonated polyimides were synthesized by solution imidization method. The prepared monomer and polymers were characterized by conventional methods. Electrochemical and thermal properties of polymers, including proton conductivity, ion exchange capacity, hydrolytic stability, thermal stability also were studied. |
