제목 Sodium-copper hexacyanoferrate-functionalized magnetic nanocluster for the highly efficient removal of radioactive cesium
초록 The nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station in 2011 released a huge amount of radioactive cesium into natural environments. Although various Cs adsorbents have effective sorption property, they cannot be directly applied to natural environemnts because there is no easy way to collect them after use. In the study, we developed a magnetically separable adsorbent to remove the cesium from water. The magnetic nanocluster synthesized using a hydrothermal method, coated with silane-polyethyleneimine to immobilize Cu ions through metal coordination to amine groups in the PEI. Sodium-copper hexacyanoferrate was subsequently formed on the surfaces of the magnetic nanoparticles as Cu ions coordinated the hexacyanoferrate ions. The resulting magnetic nanocluster displayed an excellent saturation magnetization value. their maximum adsorption capacity for Cs was about 166 mg/g. Moreover, the adsorbent selectively adsorbed Cs even in the presence of competing cations.
