In this paper, activated carbon was prepared by malic acid treated fly ash and petroleum pitch to increase SO2 gas removal efficiency of activated carbon. The properties of prepared samples was analyzed by XPS, BET and SO2 gas adsorption. During the activation process, the introduced carboxyl groups form pores at around the fly ash, and these pores were connected other pores formed by KOH. These connecting of pores is developed the pass way connecting the fly ash and outside of activated carbon. The SO2 gas removal amount was increased by the synergy effect of Al2O3 in fly ash and pore structure of the activated carbon |
