Urchin-Like Polypyrrole Nanoparticles for Hazardous Chemical Sensing Applications |

Urchin-like polypyrrole (U_PPy) nanoparticles were fabricated as high-sensitivity hazardous gas (NH3/MeOH) sensor transducers using dual-nozzle electrospray and vapor deposition polymerization methods. The U_PPy nanoparticles exhibited a precisely-controlled morphology and large Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface areas, resulting in 10–100 times higher sensitivity than other PPy nanostructures at room temperature. In addition, the U_PPy nanoparticles showed excellent selectivity to ammonia gas among other hazardous gases. |
