Anionic polymerization is a good method to control molecular weight and molecular weight distribution. In this study, the polyisoprene(PI) was synthesized by anionic polymerization. It was found that they have various stereoregularity which determined by reaction solvent and temperature. In fact, PI having a high ratio of 1,2-/3,4-structure was synthesized using sec-butyllithium in tetrahydrofuran. Then, the synthesized PI was functionalized with benzyl mercaptan, methyl 3-mercaptopropionate, 1-dodecanethiol and 2-aminoethanethiol using radical initiator under mild conditions. As a result the thermal properties and solubilities were changed dramatically after functionalization. Also, it showed that block copolymer can be synthesized from a mixed monomer of styrene and isoprene at –10 °C for 24 hrs. |
