제목 | Novel synthesis and electrorhological properties of monodisperse nano-sized hollow polyaniline carboxylate suspensions for ER fluid |
초록 | We developed a process to fabricate 200 nm monodisperse polystyrene-polyaniline particles with 100 nm polystyrene core. These hollow particles were fabricated via emulsion polymerization to synthesize a polyaniline shell around polystyrene particles. The polystyrene cores were then removed by using organic solvent to produce monodisperse hollow polyaniline particle shells. And, for studying the alkyl chain length, end group of the side chain, and mixture on enhancing the shear stress of electrorheological (ER) fluids, polyaniline carboxylates were synthesized for ER particles and prepared ER fluids by dispersing the particles in silicone oil (50 cS). These materials showed higher shear stress than polyaniline suspension. The chemical characteristics of polyaniline carboxylate were analyzed by measuring FT-IR, SEM, STEM, particle size analyzer and TGA. And electrical and rheological properties were investigated by measuring current density, conductivity and shear stress using rheometer under various shear rates and electric fields. Fig 1.
