제목 | Newly Designed Fe(II) and Co(II) Pyridyl bis-imine Catalysts for the Polymerization of Ethylene |
초록 | Recently, new late transition metal catalysts for the polymerization of olefins have attracted attention in academics and industry. In 1995, brookhart group have reported the polymerization of ethylene by using cationic Ni (Ⅱ) α-diimine complexes. And in 1998, a new series of Fe(Ⅱ) and Co(Ⅱ) complexes with bis(imino)pyridyl ligands were reported by Gibson and Brookhart, which showed exceptionally high activity for the ethylene polymerization. In particular, pyridyl bisimine complexes in combination with different cocatalysts show remarkably high activities in polymerization of ethylene. Here we reported the synthesis of new ligands modified with α-diimine based on the above-mentioned catalysts. (Scheme 1). These complexes were tested in slurry polymerization runs at 5 psig ethylene in toluene at temperatures between 30 and 70 ℃. The new catalysts were observed high activity for the ethylene polymerization in the presence of MAO and EAS. The influence of the ligand substituents on the catalystic activity was also investigated. The resulting polyethylene has been characterized by NMR, GPC and DSC.
