A Study on Leaching Rate of Cuprous Oxide in Insoluble Matrix |

To understand the characteristics of antifouling behavior, we used cuprous oxide as a major biocide in insoluble matrix and the leaching rate of them was studied in this work. The insoluble matrix comprising biocides was prepared by blending Poly(BA-co-MMA) and Polybutene. The dissolution behavior of biocide is a major key influencing on antifouling property. The concentration of Cu+ ion was measured by inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and the leaching rate was calculated. As a result, The Cu+ ion leached from cuprous oxide yielded very low dissolution rates. But the leaching behavior of cuprous oxide in the insoluble matrix demonstrated that the matrix system was very useful to control the leaching rate of biocide |
