Through this study, an enhancement in the electrochemical performance was achieved through the addition and coating of conductive polypyrrole on polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers. Carbon fibers were prepared by electrospinning PAN and PAN-Ppy, followed by stabilization and carbonization at 280 °C and 700 °C respectively. The carbonized PAN fiber was coated by spraying polypyrrole. The structural properties of the carbon fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, thermo-gravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and Brunauer—Emmett—Teller analysis. Electrochemical performance was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry, impedance, chronoamperometry, and chronocoulometry. The improvement in the electrochemical performance was attributed to the unique structure and unusual surface. |
