In recent years, nanostructured materials have attracted a great deal of attention in the last few years due to their unique properties. ZnS is an important Ⅱ-Ⅵ semiconductor with widely a band gap (3.7 eV) at room temperature. ZnS is an excellent materials for applications such as photocatalysis, photodetectors, photoconductors and ultraviolet sensor. In this study, the ZnS were synthesized by a glycothermal method using diethylene glycol solvent at various reaction temperatures. Zinc acetate dihydrate and thiourea were used as the zinc and sulfur sources, respectively. The influence of the capping agent as PEG (polyethyleneglycol) on the structure and photocatalytic properties of ZnS powder have been examined. The obtained ZnS powders were characterized using X-ray diffraction(XRD), Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and UV-Vis Spectrometer. The photocatalytic activity of the prepared ZnS was demonstrated by decomposing methyl orange (MO) under UV light irradiation. |
