Recently, ion-exchange membrane has been widely used for the catalyst, recovery of valuable metal, water purification, medical part, and separation of protein. The ion-exchange membrane is required high mechanical property, ion-exchange capacity and low electrical resistance. A novel ion-exchange membrane based on a styrene-hydroxyethyl acrylate-lauryl methacrylate terpolymer were synthesized by solution polymerization various monomer weight ratio. The ion-exchange membranes were prepared by thermal crosslinking and sulfonation reaction. The membrane’s chemical structures were investigated by FT-IR and NMR spectrometer. The membrane’s basic properties such as water uptake, ion-exchange capacity, ion transport number and electrical property were measured for the prepared ion-exchange membranes. |
