Stimuli-Responsive Peptide Delivery Using Gold-Collagen Hydrogels |

Stimuli-responsive nanocarriers have been extensively studied to enhance molecular delivery efficiency. To this end, hydrogels have considered to be promising since they can store various cargos with minimizing the loss of activity. Here, we present biocompatible gold-collagen hydrogels synthesized by facile radical reaction. By simultaneous integration of gold nanoparticles into the hydrogel network, light-responsive property is obtained. Physicochemical properties including morphology, surface charge, and degree of integration between the building blocks are tuned to optimize the stimuli-responsive performance of the hydrogels. Then, peptide loading efficiency and release kinetic of the optimized hydrogel are tested according to external stimuli. Finally, effective cellular delivery is achieved in presence of stimuli without any cytotoxic issue. Taken together, we expect that the proposed hydrogels would be beneficial in performing controlled molecular delivery. |
