Synergistic Effects of Antioxidants and Alkyl Amine on the Oxidative Stability of Biodiesel |

Biodiesel fuels contain unsaturated fatty acid ester that can easily oxidize, especially, if UV light is present. The antioxidants such as tert-butyl hydroxyanisole (TBHA), Di tert-butyl hydroquinone (DTBHQ), propyl gallate (PG) and tert-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ) inhibit the oxidation of biodiesel methyl esters. While antioxidants have been used in an effort to stabilize biodiesels, there remains a need for a biodiesel composition that has improved oxidation stability. It has been discovered that certain formulations of antioxidants and amine/acidic chelating agents are effective at stabilizing biodiesel. Our work provides synthesized of various antioxidants and examined the effectiveness of blends from combinations of alkyl amine and synthesized antioxidants to increase oxidative stability. |
