제목 Cultivation of Microalgae using Recycled Nutrients from Hydrothermal Liquefaction
초록 Hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) has been gaining popularity for algal biofuels production. The aqueous phase (AP) from HTL includes inorganic nutrients, such as ammonia and orthophosphate that could be used in cultivation of microalgae. In this study, the possibility of using AP as the source of nutrients was investigated. The AP was obtained from HTL of Tetraselmis sp. at 350°C for 5 minutes. The growth of microalgae with AP was compared with that in the 1.5 f medium. The microalgae were grown in bubble column photobioreactors containing 400 mL of media under continuous illumination at 100 μmol/m2/s. The cultures showed similar growth rates initially, but AP-supplemented cultures grew higher biomass concentration than the control. Using AP group also enhanced fatty acid contents of microalgae as those were 16% and 12% in AP group and control, respectively. The results suggest that recycled nutrients in the AP could be substituted to conventional feedstock.
