Preparation of cationic exchange membrane with high mechanical property |

Ion exchange membrane have been widely used for desalination of brackish water, recovery of valuable metals from effluents. The polystyrene ion exchange membrane was not durability due to have brittle. In this study, triblock copolymer based on styrene and two kind of acrylate comonomer were synthesised by solution polymerization. And also, cationic exchange membranes were prepared for sulfonation reaction in different of temperature and time. Also, it was investigated that was the degree of sulfonation(DS), water uptake, ion exchange capacity(IEC) and mechanical property. The average thickness of membrane was 150~200 ㎛ and the maximum ion exchange capacity was 1.8 meq/g value. |
