Synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid sol using two trifunctional organoalkoxysilanes |

Colloidal silica and silane hybrid sols were synthesized in variation with reaction time and ratio of methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMS) and phenyltrimethoxy-silane(PTMS) by sol-gel reaction. Viscosity and transmittance of hybrid sol, surface roughness and surface free energy of coating films were investigated. Viscosity of hybrid sols increased with increasing reaction time and amount of PTMS. Transmittance of hybrid sols was not changed greatly in variation with reaction time. Transmittance of hybrid sols decreased rapidly when MTMS was not added to the sol at the 2nd step. Surface roughness of coating films increased when viscosity of hybrid sols increased. Surface free energy of coating films increased with increasing the amount of PTMS. More stable hybrid sol was synthesized using MTMS which has methyl group than PTMS which has phenyl group |
