We have synthesized the new ladderlike polysilsesquioxane with POSS polymeric branches. A reactive ladderlike polysilsesquioxane with pendant chloromethyl groups was used as a macroinitiator for atom transfer radical polymerization of POSS monomer. The polymerization of POSS monomer with various reaction times was conducted to control of structure of the graft ladderlike polysilsesquioxane. The structure and thermal properties of the graft hybrid polymers were investigated by 1H-NMR, IR, DSC, and TGA. The molecular weights of the resulting polymers were characterized by GPC. The graft-shaped polymers consisting of a rigid-rod ladderlike polysilsesquioxane and POSS polymeric branches showed excellent thermal stability and good compatibility with commodity polymer. |
