제목 A study on the synthesis methods of Multi-walled carbon nanotubes/poly(ethylene oxide) hybrid
초록 Through an acid mixture treatment, surface modification was conducted to enhance the solubility of Multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWNTs). Also, hydrophilic oligomer (poly (ethylene oxide)) was used to improve the compatibility of MWNTs with other polymers. MWNTs/amine terminated PEO hybrid was synthesized by two routes. One is the substitution carboxylated-MWNTs with acyl-chloride using a thionyl chloride. The other is a non-toxic and one-step method using an EDC (1-Ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl) carbodiimide) and NHS (N-hydroxysulfosuccinimide sodium salt) in an aqueous solution. We found out that the oligomeric PEO was covalently bonded with MWNTs by way of both methods. The amount of organic material was calculated through TGA analysis. Also, SEM and TEM images show the increases in the diameter of MWNTs.
