There is considerable interest for the development of polymer-inorganic nanocomposites to improve physical and chemical characteristics of multifunctional materials. Hydrotalcite-like, layered double hydroxide [Mg4Al2(OH)12]CO3nH2O (LDH) is anionic clay. To balance the positive charge in the layers, anions are located between the layers that were originally occupied by water molecules. To achieve the incorporation of organic molecules within the interlayer gallery of LDH materials, there are several strategies: (i) anion exchange reaction, (ii) direct synthesis, (iii) reconstitution, (iv) restacking. In this work, we prepared polyimide/hydrotalcite hybrids by anionic exchange reactions. LDH was modified for anion exchange reaction. Prepared modified LDH is hybridized with polyimide precursor and then polyimide/modified LDH nanocomposite films were prepared. To confirm the intercalation, we measured wide angle x-ray diffraction(WAXD) and characterized the films by various instruments. |
