Recently, nanomaterials have received much interest due to their unique properties with very high surface area and reactivity. However, potential toxic impacts of nanomaterials on human health and ecosystem existed, so nanomaterial toxicity research is needed to minimize the impacts.AgNPs are widely used as antimicrobial agents, whereas the toxic effects are still not fully understood. The aim of this study was to evaluate potential impacts of AgNPs on ecosystem, especially bacteria. We examined 4 different types of bacteria exposed to fully characterized AgNPs and compared the toxic effects of AgNPs on gram positive and negative bacteria, and dormant cell and active cell of biofilm, respectively. |
