Fluorescent conjugated polymers have been utilized extensively as chemical sensors for both vapor-phase and solution-phase detection. Amplified response, both turn-on and turn-off, attained from the interaction between the conjugated backbones of the polymers with various analytes provide for an exceptional sensory performance even at very low analyte concentrations. We herein report fluorescent conjugated polymers based on phenyleneethynylene units separated by homoconjugated moiety. The effect of the incorporation of homoconjugated units on both solution and thin-film photophysical properties will be discussed. Furthermore, the effect of the nature of the homoconjugated unit on the fluorescence properties will be analyzed. |
