제목 | Study on the effects of gamma irradiation on PLGAs |
초록 | Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) is moisture and heat sensitive polymer, so it is good candidate for gamma sterilization. The gamma irradiation doses were 0, 2.5, 5 and 7.5 Mrad. The molecular weight of PLGAs were 50:50 copolymer with 33,000 (Resomer RG 503H) and 110,000 (Resomer RG 506) and 75:25 copolymer with 20,000 (Resomer RG 752) and 90,000 (Resomer RG 756) g/mole. The effect of gamma irradiation on PLGA molecular weight was evaluated by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) , electron spin resonance (ESR) and fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR) were performed on untreated and gamma irradiated PLGA. The molecular weight and Tg of PLGAs decreased with increasing the gamma irradiation doses. Mechanism of degradation with different lactide/glycolide ratio and different doses were discussed in terms of changes of MW, MWD and Tg.
