Preparation of Ru/PAN-Based Carbon/MWCNT Nanofiber Composite Web Electrode byCo-electrospinning |

The Ru/PAN-based carbon/MWCNT nanofiber composite web for a supercapacitor was prepared by the co-electrospinning of the composite solution consisting of a mixture of the polyacrylonitrile (PAN), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and 10 to 20 wt.% ruthenium chloride hydrate (Rucl3·xH2O) in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). The content of MWCNT was fixed as 3 wt.%. The co-electrospun nanofiber composite web was stabilized at 280°C, and then it was carbonized at 800°C in the nitrogen atmosphere. The carbonized fiber web was activated by supplying 30 vol.% steam for 1 h in nitrogen carrier gas. The specific capacitance of Ru/PAN-based carbon/MWCNT nanofiber composite web electrode was increased with the increasing Ru contents and the addition of MWCNT. The specific capacitances of the above electrodes were 323, 450 and 500 F/g, respectively, when the content of Ru were 10, 15 and 20 wt.%. However, the specific capacitance of PAN-base carbon without the addition of Ru and MWCNT was 140 F/g. This is why the combination of Ru and MWCNT brings about the synergic effect of faradaic and non-faradaic reaction. |
