Nanostructure with dimensions in 100nm range have attracted increasing interest during the past decade. Various preparation processes have been reported based on either self-assembly or the use of template. We prepared various polymer nanorods by using ordered porous templates. The crystal structure and its orientation inside the nanorod were studied with XRD, DSC and FT-IR. It is found that crystals grow preferentially in the direction of the minimal curvature, which corresponds to long axis of the nanotrod. For PE nanorods, X-ray diffraction results revealed that the b-axis of the unit cell is oriented parallel to the long axis of the nanorod. The crystal facets with the highest growth rate are oriented perpendicular to this axis. It was also found that the crystallization and its orientation behavior was affected by the polymer chain structure. |
