The effect of clay nanocomposites on physical/mechanical properties of dental composite |

The incorporation of nanoscale layered silicates, as montmorillonite(MMT), into polymers has attracted great attention due to their ability to improve mechanical, thermal, and barrier properties of many polymers. Inserting these nanocomposites into photopolymerized dental resins could lead to dental composite materials with improved physical/mechanical properties, such as wearing resistance, polymerization shrinkage, etc. Thus, the aim of this work was to investigate the process of organically modified MMT into dental composites by studying the influence of the concentration of these nanocomposites and the type of chemical species, used to modify the clays, in the morphology of the dental composite systems.
