The hybrid organic–inorganic materials offer potential opportunities not only to combine the important properties from both worlds but also to make completely new composite with truly unique properties. Bridged polysilsesquioxane (BPS) is a class of hybrid materials synthesised by the sol-gel processing of silane monomer containing bridging groups such as organic functional groups. Recently, functional BPSs have been used as high-capacity absorbents for biomedical applications. But, general BPS monomers have low-biodegradable properties, which are difficult to use for drug delivery systems. In this work, we showed the controlled synthesis of biodegradable BPS via Stöber method and characterised them by FT-IR, NMR, and SEM. In addition, these biodegradable BPSs are highly promising nanoparticles as drug delivery carriers for several therapies. |
