Improved synthesis and polymerizations were reported of monomers bearing hole transporting substituent (N-phenylcarbazole) and electron transporting substituent (2,5-diphenyl- oxadiazole) attached directly to a vinyl group. The resulting polymers (PPCZ and PPOXD) exhibited good solubility in normal organic solvents. The optical properties of the polymers were measured and varied with the structures. From UV-Vis absorption and photoluminescence (PL) spectra of these solution- processable polymers, it was observed that λmax,UV was 341 nm for PPCZ and 290 for PPOXD, and λmax,PL was measured to be 360 nm for PPCZ and 356 nm for PPOXD, with quantum yields of 0.16 and 0.23, respectively. Electroluminescence (EL) properties of polymer light emitting device (PLED) fabricated using synthesized polymers will be performed further. The polymers are also potential host materials to be doped with iridium complex so as to increase the efficiency of PLED. |
