제목 Optimization of indoor CO2 adsorption using KOH-modified activated carbon in a tubular apparatus: the effect of moisture
초록 High indoor CO2 concentration (>1000 ppm) can negatively impact human health. In this work, a cost-effective CO2 adsorbent (KOH/AC: KOH-impregnated commercial activated carbon) was used in tubular apparatus for indoor CO2 adsorption as a further study of our previous indoor CO2 adsorption in chamber apparatus. Three factors (feed flow rate, concentration and humidity) were selected for optimization analysis to obtain optimal operating conditions for indoor CO2 adsorption. KOH-impregnation greatly changed the surface properties, thereby significantly improving the CO2 adsorption capacity, in despite of reducing BET surface area as a sacrifice. In-situ FTIR analysis confirmed that CO2 adsorption on AC was mainly physisorption while that on KOH/AC involved both chemisorption and physisorption. The chemisorption that occurred on KOH/AC was mainly controlled by the moisture. The equilibrium concentration increased with increasing CO2 concentration and feed flow rate, while the optimal relative humidity was obtained to be about 50%.
