A achiral amphiphilic tetrathiafulvalene molecule (amph-TTF) was newly designed and synthesized. A Highly ordered crystalline phase emerged below the isotropic phase was monitored by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), one-dimensional (1D) wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) techniques. From the 2D WAXD, the crystal structure of amph-TTF was identified to be a monoclinic unit cell. For using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and polarized optical microscopy (POM), we could observe the morphology that the amph-TTF formed not only flat ribbons but also scrolls and helixes, in which the self-assembled ribbons further aggregated themselves to formulate the fibrous hierarchical structures.
