제목 Horizontally Oriented Graphene Oxide for Extremely Impermeable and Mechanically Strengthened Nanocomposites
초록 Nanofiller-reinforced nanocomposites strategy provides many opportunities in the material science and technology, improving mechanical, thermal, gas barrier and electrical properties of neat materials. Especially, graphene oxide (GO) has been expected as the next generation nanofiller owing to superior material properties. Despite of intrinsically outstanding properties of GO, there are arguments about its geometry in nanocomposites, which is important parameter determining the property improvement. Here, we prepared horizontally oriented GO within crosslinked PEG (XPEG) matrix and investigated extremely enhanced mechanical and barrier properties of GO/XPEG nanocomposites in aspect of the nanofiller geometry. The relationships between the geometry of GO and improved properties of GO/XPEG nanocomposites were also evaluated with theoretical models. The evaluation implies the possibility of GO as the promising nanofiller for the polymer industry.
