In this study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were treated with nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu) by electroless plating method for improving electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance. The physical properties of electroless plated MWCNTs were measured by using UHR-SEM, TGA, sheet resistance and EMI shielding analysis. EMI shielding effect of Ni/Cu electroless plated MWCNTs were measured to be 17 dB under 800 MHz band, which was increased by 2 times compared to that of the untreated MWCNTs. This result could be attributed to the plated morphology of Ni/Cu on the surface of MWCNTs. EMI shielding performance was also affected to the uniformity on the plated film not the amount of plated metal. As a result, EMI shielding efficiency of metal plated MWCNTs was considerably developed by Ni/Cu mixed and uniformly plated film. |
