In this study, Pd-POSS nanoparticle were produced from the reaction of palladium (II) acetate and octa(3-aminopropyl)octasilsesquioxane octahydrochloride in methanol at room temperature. The spherical aggregates of the Pd-POSS nanoparticles were formed spontaneously without any external force. Spherical aggregates consisting of palladium nanoparticles with a diameter size of 40~80 nm were observed by FE-SEM and FE-TEM. The used spherical mesoporous silica (SMS) has an average size of 500 nm. We have prepared hybrid mesoporous silica sphere with Pd-POSS nanoparticle through ionic interaction between positively charge Pd-POSS nanoparticles and negatively charge SMS particles. By adjusting the pH the charge in the formation of hybrid composited was observed. Palladium is already known for excellent hydrogen adsorption capacity. The morphology, structure, and thermal properties, and hydrogen adsorption property of the Pd-POSS/SMS composite were analyzed by various analytical tools. |
