Gas barrier layer on polymer films is essential components for flexible substrates. However, conventional barrier layer composed by inorganic or organic materials showed high water transmission rate (WVTR) of 0.1 g/m2/day, that is suitable for liquid crystal display (LCD) or e-paper but too high for organic light emission diode (OLED) requiring WVTR of below 10-6 g/m2/day. For high barrier film, multi-layer processes or hybrid materials are commonly can adopted using vacuum deposition and wet-coating system, however, thickly stacked layer have showed unstable durability during repeated bending test. Therefore, in this study, we used lamination process of two inorganic coated polymer films as substitution. This laminated films showed better barrier properties of WVTR below 10-4 g/m2/day and superior bending reliability than multi-layered films. |
