Box-Behnken design (BBD) was used to statistically optimize the extraction of luteolin from celery leaves. The experimental data were fitted to a second-order polynomial equation using multiple regression analysis and were examined using the appropriate statistical methods. The results showed that, coefficient of determination (R2) for the model was 0.9805, and the probability value (p<0.0001) demonstrated a high significance for the regression model. The optimum condition (extraction time 4.2 h, temperature 72.0 oC and ratio of water to raw material 26.0) for the luteolin extraction yield was estimated using the model equation. Under these conditions, the mean luteolin extraction yield was 69.4 mg/g. |
