Visible light active TiO2 photocatalysts were synthesized via a sol-gel method in order to evaluate their photocatalytic activity. Synthesized TiO2 samples were characterized by XRD, N2-sorption, and DRS. In DRS results, N-doped and F-doped TiO2 samples extended the light absorption spectrum toward the visible region. The doped TiO2 samples were responsible for band gap narrowing of TiO2 and shifting its optical response from ultraviolet to the visible light region. The photodegradation of organic dyes was performed under visible light illumination for investigating their photocatalytic activity. In these results, The doped-TiO2 samples were found to exhibit better photocatalytic activity than pure TiO2. |
