Polymerization and Sol-Gel Method For The Fabrication of Hollow Silica Spheres Using Polystyrene Templates |

Hollow silica spheres were prepared by non calcination process. This method is just based on a PVP-involved emulsion polymerization and subsequent sol-gel process. Firstly, polymerization reaction to prepare polystyrene by control amount of PVP and styrene in water solvent. Secondly, Silica was sol-gel coating process on the polystyrene subsequently dissolved polystyrene using NH4OH. The morphologies of the obtained products were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The average particle diameter of the Hollow silica spheres were controlled in the range of 150-200 nm with constant shell thickness about 25 nm. |
