제목 Surface Aligned Main-Chain Liquid Crystalline Elastomers: Tailored Properties by the Choice of Amine Chain Extenders
초록 Liquid crystalline elastomers (LCE) are interesting smart materials which are capable of reversible actuation by external stimuli such as heat, light and chemical exposure etc. In LCEs, reversible actuation only occurs if there is molecular order at the moment of crosslinking, and the shape change is controlled by programming the molecular orientation of the polymer via mechanical, surface and magnetic alignment. Here, we report the one-pot synthesis of LCEs by aza-Michael addition-based oligomerization and subsequent photo crosslinking, all of which occurs inside the surface aligned cells. Structure-property relationships of the resulting LCEs are investigated, which demonstrate thermal, mechanical and actuation properties are efficiently manipulated by the choice of amine chain extenders. Therefore, our study highlights an efficient method to manipulate the properties of the LCEs by choosing a chain extender, which will expand the range of applications in shape morphing devices.
