제목 Dispersion and flame retardancy of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate / Layered silicate nanocomposite
초록 There are many demands for more efficient and more environment-friendly flame retardants in the polymer industry. Recently, polymer layered silicate nanocomposites give rise to a tremendous interest for excellent flame retardancy via a minimal amount of clay. In this work, we prepared the EVA/layered silicate nanocomposites by a two-step melt compounding method with a twin screw extruder. We investigated the morphology, mechanical property and flame retardancy by dispersion and contents of layered silicate in EVA/layered silicate nanocomposites. We also examined the synergy effect of flame retardancy through introduction of organoclays to the magnesium hydroxide (MDH). Morphology, mechanical property and flame retardancy of EVA/layered silicate nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM), Thermogravimetric analyzer(TGA), Universal Testing Machine(UTM) and cone calorimeter measurements.
