Mechanochemistry means that mechanical force acts like heat or light on chemical reaction. Mechanochemistry is a new scientific field which started only 10 years ago, and offers advantages and potential changes to chemists. For example, some reactions need high energy sources like short wavelength irradiation or elevated temperatures to access the desired changes. However, the high energies can also lead to undesired reactions or by-products. In contrast, mechanical force only reacts on unique sites, mechanophore, and also increases reaction rate. Therefore, this is a very effective method to induce chemical reactions. In this work, a new type of mechanophore-containing polymer was prepared by the reaction of anthracene carboxylic acid dimer and polycaprolactone. The mechanochemical behavior of the polymer was investigated by UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and gel permeation chromatography. |
