The emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere due to the combustion of fossil fuels has created a serious environmental problem. In order to improve the carbon dioxide capture, we prepared cellulose-based activated carbon fibers by heat treatment and chemical activation. The cellulose-based activated carbon fibers were activated by chemical activation agent which produce micropore mainly. To confirm development of pore, the BET specific surface area and pore size distribution were investigated. The quantity adsorbed of carbon dioxide was also assessed at 0 and 25℃. The prepared samples with high specific surface area captured high quantity of carbon dioxide. Also, microporous cellulose-based carbon fibers captured the highest quantity of carbon dioxide. |
